Semaphore Error Message Solution

If a user gets a red (F2) error message "attempting to access semaphore" and their computer locks up, try this:

  1. Have all users exit ACCPAC.
  2. Exit to DOS and change directories to the data subdirectory.
  3. Type DIR EZSEMTAB.* to see the EZSEMTAB.xxx file. The file extension should be the same as your data.
  4. Delete the EZSEMTAB.xxx file.

When the user accesses ACCPAC, this file will rebuild itself.

If a user continues to get the "attempting to access semaphore" error message, perform the following steps:

  1. Repeat steps 1 to 4 above.
  2. Change directories to ASP\.
  3. Type DIR EZTASKS.* and locate the EZTASKS.LD4 file.
  4. Rename this file to EZTASKS.OLD.
  5. Have the user access ACCPAC.

When the user accesses ACCPAC, this file will rebuild itself.
